世界保健機関が主導する「たばこ規制枠組条約」が発効したのを記念し、禁煙推進の活動を行っている医師、歯科医師ら約６０人が、２００５年２月２７日、東京都三鷹市の杏林大学病院の中庭に並んで、同条約を示す英語の頭文字「ＦＣＴＣ」という人文字をつくった。
　日本禁煙推進医師歯科医師連盟（会長＝大島明・大阪府立成人病センター調査部長、会員約１５００人）の会員たちで、前日から開かれた学術集会（禁煙学会）に引き続き、条約発効の祝賀と意義をアピールしようと実施した。
　企画した同大医学部の作田学教授（学会長）は「条約はたばこの規制に世界中が手をつなぐ画期的なもので、今日がその第一歩。たばこの害を多くの人に知ってもらうために、私たちも頑張って活動していきたい」と話した。

Performed FCTC in Japan
The Letter Formed by Anti-Smoking Activists in Japan

In commemoration of the effectuation of the Framework Convention on Tobacco
Control (FCTC), the sixty of the anti-smoking activists including physicians
and dentists formed "FCTC" at the roof of Kyorin University Hospital at
Mitaka-City, Tokyo, on February 27, 2005.

They were the participants at "Japan Anti-Smoking Conference" and performed
"FCTC" to celebrate and make a strong appeal on its effectuation.

This plan was designed by Dr. Manabu Sakuta, Professor of Kyorin University
of Medicine and the President of Japan Anti-Smoking Conference, and he said
"The FCTC is the epoch-making event to hold hands to hands for the tobacco
control, and today is the first step. We would like to take an action to
appeal many people understanding the problems of tobacco."
